Written between 1817 and 1823, eleven years after the eight symphony, The “Choral” is the culmination of the single most monumental body of work in the lexicon of orchestral music- Beethoven’s 9 Symphonies. The famous Choral finale evolved over many years and is set to Schiller’s poem, “Ode To Joy,” which had inspired Beethoven since his youth.
